Back to White

Well, as my poor honey can attest to – I have gone and changed my color scheme for our future house about 4 times already – and it’s not even supposed to be our be-all-end-all home!

It’s like every new inspirational photo I see, I automatically switch off whatever previous inspirational photo I had chosen before it.

Well my friends, today is no exception, and after my brief affair with a deep verdant olive/ochre wall in the kitchen, I am back to all white.

Back to basics. How beautiful is the simple, clean, white…

Colors – from Lucky

Found a great house on Dwell’s slidshows, loved so much of it that every picture in the show gave me ideas for colors (albeit for different spaces than the owner’s had):

Great navy exterior, I’m still thinking would be great for a bathroom, plus with the great combination with the sage green, the ochre, the wood, and of course bright white!

And love the pink/red couch, I need to go fabric shopping (plus, note the shared affection with the nelson ball clock on the far right wall)

Love the combo of the couch, with the gray rug and all that light and light wood

And then, love this lighter-than-robin-egg blue, which is great with the white and light wood, which I’m thinking of translating into an office space

Running Away

is what I’m thinking of doing….a lot…..recently……ok, for the entire winter…… :-/

found via Milk, an excerpt from Moby Dick, by Herman Melville

Some years ago–never mind how long precisely–having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen, and regulating the circulation. Whenever I find myself growing grim about the mouth; whenever it is a damp, drizzly November in my soul; whenever I find myself involuntarily pausing before coffin warehouses, and bringing up the rear of every funeral I meet; and especially whenever my hypos get such an upper hand of me, that it requires a strong moral principle to prevent me from deliberately stepping into the street, and methodically knocking people’s hats off–then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can. This is my substitute for pistol and ball. With a philosophical flourish Cato throws himself upon his sword; I quietly take to the ship. There is nothing surprising in this. If they but knew it, almost all men in their degree, some time or other, cherish very nearly the same feelings towards the ocean with me.

Invitations no. 3 – Watercolor (brown)

Just occurred to me that my personal little artistic imprint has always been through the watercolor medium (and while green won’t be my thing) I thought these might be a neat idea, in brown…

thanks to 100 Layer Cake (who I think also shares my Hungarian heritage!) for the inspiration!

Found another set of lovely samples of invitations via Lovely Morning, featuring Papernut’s paper creations.

I do love the teal and brown combo!
